Welcome!

I have just started a personal website for a number of reasons:
1)  to keep friends and family informed about my training program so people can follow me while I'm living abroad
2)  so others can learn from and/or critique what I am doing
3) as a way of promoting myself and using the internet to hopefully create opportunities in different aspects of life.
4) thought it would be fun way to keep track of everything

About me
I am an Australian swimmer currently living and studying in the USA. I swim the 50 and 100 freestyle and 50 and 100 Butterfly and consider myself to be a 'drop dead sprinter' as they call it in the states, that is a 50 metre swimmer who barely hangs on for the 100. I love swimming and am always looking for new ways to make myself faster. I place a high emphasis on 'training smart' and keeping training fun and interesting which is why i love to hear about any unique training ideas and give them a try.

Training regime
I currently train by myself and am doing programs written by the universities new graduate assistant coach. The reason for this is I feel I lost a bit of my love for the sport last year when training with the college team and decided I wanted to try a different way of training to see if it suited me better physically and mentally. So after taking most of the summer break off, i decided I would try my own stuff.  So far its been 2 and a half months on my own and while some sets are so challenging to do on your own, I really feel i'm getting back towards my best but still have a bit to go obviously. I'm lucky to be working with a coach who has very much the same philosophy as me, and also enjoys trying new things.

Goals:
1) To enjoy swimming as much as I can
2) To swim fast- right now I am targetting the longcourse 50 free and aim to break 23 seconds.
3) To keep a balance in my life- too many times over the years I have felt like I have sacrificed so many opportunities to swim. Im getting to a point in life where I still want to swim at a high level but not at the expense of other pursuits.
